Article V - Membership

Section 5.1 - Organizational
Alliance memberships are organization based. Organizations are defined as colleges, universities and employers. College memberships are represented by persons engaged in providing career services or coordinating internships or cooperative education programs at any institution of higher education within the State of Michigan. College membership with voting privileges may be granted to persons engaged in providing career services or coordinating internships or cooperative education programs from institutions located in an adjoining state or province. Employer memberships are represented as persons engaged in recruitment of employees from within the State of Michigan, and their organization is directly engaged in recruitment or placement of college students or graduates for employment or for internship or cooperative education assignments within their own organization.

Section 5.2 - Fee Structure
The membership fee structure will be set by the Alliance's governing body and will be subject to yearly review.

Section 5.3 - Organization Representation
Each organization may appoint representatives to the Alliance's general membership in accordance to the organizational membership fee structure. However each organization will receive only one vote.

Section 5.4 - Non Organization Membership
The Executive Board will act on all applications for membership from persons who do not meet the specific requirements for membership. The decision of the Executive Board is final.

Section 5.5 - Student Membership

a. Student membership is available to students enrolled in career services related academic programs or working within the industry.
b. Students may not vote at meetings and may not hold any position on the Board.
c. Student membership is not available to those who would qualify for membership under Organizational Membership (Section 5.1).
d. Student memberships are at a reduced rate according to the fee structure.

Section 5.6 - Lifetime Membership
Lifetime membership is granted to professionals who have been a member of MC-ICE, Mi-ACE or MCEEA for a minimum of 10 years.
a. Individuals must have retired from or left the field.
b. Individuals may request this status or be nominated by another member.
c. Lifetime members will not be required to pay membership dues.
d. Lifetime members may not vote at meetings and may not hold any position on the Board.
